Dawne is a long time Pompano visitor and six-year resident. Look for Dawne to share interviews with some of our fascinating neighbors, keep readers up to speed on what’s happening in the City, and answer your questions, comments, concerns and suggestions as we grow our magazine.

Media Director:  James “Jim” Stafford

Mr. Stafford is a professional photographer, web, and graphic designer. He is passionate about photography and art. Be sure to smile if you see Jim as we send him out to cover life in Pompano.

Beauty & Health Editor:  Trisha McMahon

Celebrating her 20th year in publishing, Pompano Beach resident Trisha McMahon has held several top-level positions on consumer, trade and custom publications. Her titles have included senior writer, staff writer, reporter, associate editor, associate managing editor, beauty editor, fashion editor, managing editor, editorial director, associate publisher and senior vice president of communications and public relations. 

While raising her two sons, Ms. McMahon headed up TMD Creative Communication, a marketing and public relations firm with a client base that included mid-sized corporations, magazine publishers and international trade show concerns. She is a sought after speaker, moderator and radio talk-show guest addressing a variety of topics from fashion, beauty, health and travel to lifestyle, relationships and parenting. 

Covering spas, salons, fitness trends, and the latest innovations in health and beauty, Trisha’s work has appeared in numerous magazines, newspapers and websites including: Woman, Bridal Guide, Westchester, Travel Girl, Woman’s World, Ambiance, Herald Statesman, Town & Country,, Well-Being, Women’s News,, Health Talk, Marriage & Family Living, Salon, Costumes, Inc., Baby Talk,, Lear’s, Hudson Valley, Spotlight, This Week, Redbook, Beauty, Beauty Digest, L’Officiel/USA and Longevity. 

In 2000, Ms. McMahon was the launch editor for IN New York magazine and and innewyork custom publishing, print and online publications catering to New York City travelers. 

Aside from her writing assignments and personal blogs,  Ms. McMahon, an avid sailor, is currently working on her first non-fiction book and a television sitcom, as well as her golf swing.

Jahlisa Harvey

Jahlisa, a talented young writer, shares her musings from the perspective of one who is “on the verge” of adulthood.  A Pompano Beach resident for ten years, Jahlisa holds a degree in Communications from Bluefield College in Virginia.  She played soccer for the college for four years, and belonged to a sorority and student government associations. Jahlisa loves to read books of various genres, ranging from horror to fantasy to old classics such as the Brontë sisters.  She is “absolutely obsessed” with the Twilight saga, and has hooked her family on it as well. Now that she has graduated, Jahlisa, who can no longer call herself “The (almost) graduate”, is continuing to fulfill her passion for writing, and hopes to influence others to see that “words aren’t just for nerds.”

Jay Ghanem, Auto Tech & Body

Jay Ghanem is the President of Auto Tech and Body, an automotive complex in Pompano Beach.  In the past few years, Jay has focused on sustainability and green energy in the automotive industry.  Jay has an Engineering degree and multiple certifications in mechanical, paint and body repair.  Jay has been awarded the Small Business Person of the Year by the Broward Chamber of Commerce; he is the assistant governor for the Rotary Club district 6990 in Florida and the Bahamas; he vice-chairs the Pompano Beach NW CRA Advisory Board. Jay also serves on the Broward County Education Board for Automotive and Marine Industry programs, is the ATC Advisory chair, and serves on the Broward College and Boys & Girls Club boards, among others.  Jay is a regular speaker at the FAU School of Engineering and has published articles in local and national automotive industry publications.

When not working, Jay likes to spend time with his wife Mei and their kids Jude and Meera.  He has resided in Broward County for the past 20 years.  Jay’s keys to success are: passion, vision, perseverance and loving what you do.

Teana McDonald, 3E Connections, Inc.

Teana McDonald shares her enthusiasm and passion for social media and public relations as the President of a successful boutique agency, 3E Connections, Inc.  She built her brand by assisting companies establish a robust online and offline presence to expand their reach. Teana is a Past President of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Social Media Chair for FemFessionals, SCORE business mentor, former Co- host of popular web series 3 Loud Women and former Co-host of NBC’s Miami Moms. Harry Patel, The Vega Company

The intrepid Harry Patel is at the helm of The Vega Company (formerly Pompano Beverage), a family owned and operated business in the Harbor Village Shoppes since 1986. The Vega company has  grown to include a wine & spirits retail store (Vega Wine & Spirits), a cigar retail store (Vega Cigars), and a lounge featuring live music and an extensive cocktail and spirits selection (The Vega Lounge). Harry reminds us that “We are always here to meet your needs when it comes to fine wine, spirits, and cigar goods.”

Kevin Roth, The Heart of the Gourmet

Kevin Roth is an international award winning performer who has appeared with his dulcimer at The White House, PBS TV, and thousands of concerts across the country.His recorded work is part of The Smithsonian Folkways collection. While on a concert tour he found his first infused oil and balsamic store. Being a true ‘foodie’, he opened his own store, The Heart of The Gourmet, in Pompano Beach in 2012. Unlike most gourmet stores, he teaches classes throughout the week with his now famous ‘ tasting classes’ which teach how to make the ordinary taste extraordinary. Friends gather around his Tuscany table for fabulous foodie events.  His future holds a new album, a new book of recipes, and some exciting events at his store.

Misty Schwartz, MSPR

Misty Schwartz is the owner of MSPR and is a public relations and marketing guru, enjoys meeting new people and doing volunteer work. She has been doing PR/Marketing/Volunteer work for several years with various foundations across the world and has always loved to find ways to make a difference in the lives of those she comes in contact with. Misty Schwartz PR plans to make a difference in the way the world views charities, celebrities and cupcakes… Her firm helps with various movie premieres and charity events worldwide. She is also the founder of Cupcakes Magazine and always tries to incorporate a charity into all of the events she works on, such as Children’s Hospitals (worldwide), The Scott L. Charlotte Sundquist, Artistic Productions, Inc.

Charlotte Sundquist is the President of Artistic Productions, Inc. ( and is a strong local advocate for arts and culture in our community. In 2010, she created “Art Night Pompano”, a series of art events at the Pompano Citi Center as part of her Vacant Spaces Project. These events showcased the talents of multiple visual artists, poets and musicians. Charlotte is also the founder of the South Florida Artists Association ( a non-profit organization that focuses on the development of business skills for the arts that meets monthly in Pompano Beach. When not supporting the arts, Charlotte travels the globe at every opportunity.
