El Tamarindo Café II
3100 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach
When we walked in to El Tamarindo, we were immediately greeted by wonderfully attentive service – even more so than at, say, the Capital Grille.
My guest and I were seated quickly, and a white cloth napkin placed across our laps. Another server materialized almost instantly with a pitcher of water, and to my right the most incredible soup appeared. Our drink orders were taken, and a free appetizer of plantains with a cilantro sauce for dipping arrived. Truly a party in your mouth!
You can look at a menu which includes, burgers, seafood, sushi, and the $7.00 pork chops that melt in your mouth (sorry, nearby chophouse), or watch the server present images of the most mouthwatering dishes on an iPad. I did not ask the price but just said, “I will take that beautiful seabass with squid , mussels and clams on a bed of angel hair pasta (big enough for two, at $24.00).” Later, the chef saw me eyeing the gorgeous Sushi next to me, and made me the biggest sample! (Let’s call it a meal.)
For dessert, we were very impressed by a magical flan that was the best I’ve ever tasted. Throughout our visit, while I am not a celebrity, I was truly treated like one. According to what I’ve heard, everyone is treated this way.
It’s quite clear that Alex, the Chef-owner, knows how to please. What took me so long to find this treasure?
